Ipswitch, Inc. Announces NetFlow Monitor Plug-In for WhatsUp® Gold v12.3

New Plug-in Provides NetFlow Monitoring Capabilities – Extends Functionality of WhatsUp Gold Network Management Product Family

Lexington, MA – October 6, 2008 – Ipswitch, Inc.'s Network Management division, the leading developer of network management software, announced today the immediate availability of WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor – A plug-in module for WhatsUp Gold Version 12.3 Standard, Premium, Distributed and MSP Editions. WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor provides traffic flow identification and reporting based on Cisco's NetFlow technology. It delivers instant insight into how efficiently any network is performing and how bandwidth is being utilized.

NetFlow is a Cisco-developed technology embedded in many routers and switches to provide information on the packets moving through a device, from source to destination and back. This movement is defined as a "flow". For example, a flow could represent a user accessing an application or Website and the application's response. NetFlow identifies these traffic flows and provides classification of them using source and destination addressing.

WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor gathers information from NetFlow-enabled switches and routers allowing network administrators to analyze and report on network traffic patterns. Applications and users that are inappropriately consuming bandwidth can be rapidly identified. WhatsUp Gold NetFlow Monitor presents detailed information to assess network quality of service and quickly resolve traffic bottlenecks.

The WhatsUp Gold product family enables true real-time monitoring of network devices and adds configurable reports to allow up-to-the-second intelligence about and visibility into monitored systems or devices. WhatsUp Gold boasts far more scalability, functionality and capabilities than point products traditionally delivered to small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). Additionally, pricing is often many times lower than competitors’ enterprise-class network management solutions.
